A parasitic fungus killed them: in Central America alone, a fungus killed a double-digit number of frog species. A malaria epidemic soon followed.
In the Costa Rican rain forest there can be no question of a good night’s sleep. As soon as darkness falls, the animals of the jungle begin their nightly concert. A large part of the strange but not unpleasant sound is due to the frogs. Dozens of species reside in trees, their primary residence. However, the acoustic confusion of ringing, whistling and buzzing shouldn’t hide the fact that quite a few of the singers have gone missing.
