If the Mughals were so cruel, then demolish Taj Mahal and Qutb Minar: Naseeruddin

Renowned actor Naseeruddin Shah, in his response to the constant criticism of the Mughals in India, said that if the Mughals were so cruel, those who opposed them should demolish historical monuments like the Taj Mahal, Red Fort and Qutub Minar. Do it.’

Naseeruddin Shah, who has shown the essence of acting in many memorable films of the past including ‘Galab’, is playing the role of Akbar Badshah in the new web series ‘Taj-Khun Se Takis’.

The 10-episode family drama will go on air from March 3, 2023. Other actors in the drama include Dharmendra, who plays Sheikh Salim Chishti.

Naseeruddin Shah said that the Mughals did not come here to loot India but to make it their home.

Talking about people’s misconceptions about the Mughals, he said, ‘I am surprised because it is absolutely ridiculous. I mean people cannot tell the difference between Akbar and a murderous raider like Nadir Shah or Babur’s great grandfather Timur.

‘These were the people who came here to loot. The Mughals did not return here. They came to make it their country and that’s what they did. Who can deny their actions?’

Naseeruddin said that although the Mughals were honored at the cost of our country’s traditions, there is no need to make them villains.

He told The Indian Express, ‘If what they did was terrible, then demolish the Taj Mahal, demolish the Red Fort, demolish the Qutub Minar.

‘Why do we consider the Red Fort sacred, it was built by a Mughal? We don’t need to praise them, but we don’t need to defame them either.’

He said that there is no scope for intellectual discussion as there is a lack of understanding of the country’s history.
