The Syndicate of Hospitals in Lebanon stated that “hospitals are currently exposed to a serious dilemma that directly threatens the health of patients. Importers force them to pay the price of medicines in cash, refusing bank checks, at a time when banks do not provide the necessary cash for hospitals, especially since the Banque du Liban does not provide them with cash.” required”.

The syndicate stated, “After our review of those concerned in the Banque du Liban, we were offered insurance of 90 billion pounds per month to secure the wages of employees and the purchase of medicines, which is a very small amount compared to what is required to be secured, which amounts to hundreds of billions per month,” pointing out, “We asked the Banque du Liban to secure 200 One billion pounds per month, as a minimum, allows us to partially manage things, and to prevent a major crisis, represented by the inability of hospitals to provide wages for their employees, and the most dangerous thing is their inability to buy medicine for patients. Unfortunately, our request for this did not receive the required response.

And she warned that “hospitals are unable, in this case, to secure medicines for patients who will have to buy them at their own expense, regardless of the guarantor that covers the costs of their hospitalization.”

The Syndicate thanked the caretaker Minister of Health, Firas Al-Abyad, for his “efforts with those concerned,” asking the caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, and the Governor of the Banque du Liban, Riad Salameh, to work “to secure the required liquidity immediately, in order to prevent falling into the prohibited.”
