During the night from Thursday to Friday, on the way back to his home, Jean-Hubert Nicolay lost control of his car at the exit of the R5 in Asquillies. Alone in question and alone in his vehicle, he had rolled over several times. The Mons policeman (50 years old) only escaped with a few minor injuries, despite the violence of the shock. As we reported in our Saturday edition, Jean-Hubert Nicolay claimed that he had not consumed alcohol. However, a blood test carried out at the Saint-Joseph clinic in Mons would reveal a high alcohol level.
According to several testimonies, the policeman had made an outing to the Marché-aux-Herbes in Mons that evening. The results of the blood test actually showed a rate of 3.06 grams of alcohol, six times more than the legal limit! Recall that the breathalyzer carried out by police officers from the Boraine zone, just following the accident, had been negative according to the declarations of the person concerned.
False p.-v. ?
This Monday, Georges-Louis Bouchez, group leader of Mons en Mieux and member of the police council, reacted. “We can’t believe for a second that the breathalyser was negative when the blood test revealed more than 3 grams of alcohol! “, he says. “If it turns out that there have been false reports, it is obvious that other people will have to take responsibility for their actions and leave the police! »
For Georges-Louis Bouchez, the reaction of the head of the body following the disclosure of the results of the blood test raises questions. The group leader therefore requests the suspension of the corps commander from his duties, with immediate effect, then that an investigation be carried out. “If the lie is proven, he must be revoked from the police, that’s clear! Of course, there is the presumption of innocence, you cannot pillory someone without hearing them, but many elements and testimonies point in the same direction. »
Mons en Mieux intends to establish all the transparency on this affair and requests the holding of an emergency police council, namely this Friday. And to recall that the police council is competent for what concerns the personal questions of the members of the police zone.
An investigation by Committee P
In addition, MeM would like an investigation by Committee P to be carried out at the level of the Mons-Quévy police zone, but also within the Boraine zone, given that it is the latter which carried out the breathalyzer.
“We have always respected the police but the law must be the same for everyone! It is not relentlessness on the zone chief. We are facing an unprecedented situation of a gravity rarely reached! It is surprising that the mayor of Mons has not yet intervened at this stage. The credibility of the police is at stake. »
