2023-07-06 18:45:00

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced that its troops shelled an area of southern Lebanon from where an anti-tank missile was launched into Israeli territory.

Shortly before, an explosion was reported near the village of Ghajar, which lies on the border between Lebanon and Israel, near Mount Dov, on the Golan Plateau.

The inhabitants of Ghajar, members of the Alawite sect, have Israeli identity papers, but remain loyal to Syria.

The IDF assessed that the attack from Lebanon was intentional and consequently responded with artillery fire in the direction of the origin of the attack.

The IDF Rear Guard (or Civil Defense) Command did not issue special instructions to the population

Last April, three Israelis were injured and several buildings were damaged as a result of a volley of 34 rockets launched from Lebanon. Twenty-five of those rockets were intercepted in the air by the Iron Dome anti-missile battery and another five fell on Israeli territory.
