Identity card for the first time: Processing in 5 steps

Through the web portal of the Administrative Service of Identification, Migration and Foreigners (WE GOT), you can process your child’s identity card for the first time if he or she is already 9 years old.

To request this document, the minor must be registered through his or her representative’s user on the web portal.

Personal data such as date of birth, birth certificate and registration number are attached to the platform.

Steps to process the identity card for the first time

  1. The applicant must click on “Cedulación”.
  2. Then select “Request Minor ID for the first time.”
  3. They must then fill out a form with all of the minor’s details.
  4. Once the information has been correctly registered, the system will require the representative to confirm his or her identity in order to attend and accompany the child to the appointment.
  5. Finally you have to choose the date of the appointment.

These are the requirements to apply

  • Certified copy of the minor’s birth certificate.
  • Copy of the identity card of the representative or guardian accompanying the child or adolescent.

The day of the appointment

  • The minor must be accompanied by his or her father or mother.
  • Parents must provide their current identity card, in addition to the child’s original birth certificate.
  • The identity document of the father or mother must be in good condition and legible, to speed up the process.

As with all Venezuelans, the birth certificate identifies the parents of the minor, so if the procedure must be carried out by another representative in charge, he or she must appear with the document that authorizes it.
