After a survey found that employees are more productive with Macs, another very comprehensive survey by IDC e passed on by Apple measured several aspects related to decision-making by companies regarding technology and security products. Among the questions and results, it was found that 76% of participants of the survey think Macs are safer than other computers.
IDC conducted an online survey of people from different companies in the United States and Canada, with more than 500 employees each. Called information technology decision makers, research participants work on steps such as selecting, purchasing and/or installing software, or supervise those who do so.
Regarding Macs, in addition to the consolidated perception in terms of security, 43% of those who responded to the survey stated that the main reason for adopting Macs in their companies is security, the most cited reason in this area. In second place was the ease of installation and management, highlighted by 36% of participants as the number one reason to buy Macs in the next 12 months.
IDC highlighted several aspects of Apple computers that certainly contribute to this positive perception of devices among companies. Features such as the Boot Securitywhich ensures that the certified and encrypted version of macOS is running on the machine, as well as the signed boot volumewhich protects the integrity of the system.

Another important aspect is the automation of software updates, avoiding risks with outdated versions of macOS. The fact that the Mac App Store scans apps for threats — with a multi-layered approach to cybersecurity — is also an important factor in Macs’ security reputation.
In addition to the Mac App Store itself, the Gatekeeper and other features for checking apps downloaded outside the store were also identified by IDC as relevant to company security. The tool XProtectin turn, was highlighted as important in removing threats and malicious software.
