That’s what it’s about

  • On Friday, US police arrested a criminology graduate student as a murder suspect.

  • In November, four students were found dead in the US state of Idaho.

  • The suspect asked a strange question when he was arrested.

The FBI arrested a criminology graduate student Friday in connection with the mysterious murders of four college students in the state of Idaho. 28-year-old Bryan Christopher Kohberger was arrested at his parents’ home in Monroe County, Pennsylvania, in the north-east of the United States – more than 4000 kilometers from the crime scene.

Kohberger is accused of the intentional killing of three students on November 13th, according to US media, citing investigative authorities. Xana Kernodle, 20, and her boyfriend of the same age, Ethan Chapin, along with 21-year-olds Kaylee Goncalves and Madison Mogen, were found stabbed to death in their beds in a tenement near the campus in the small college town of Moscow, north Idaho.

Looking for the suspect’s car

The alleged perpetrator probably killed the four while they were sleeping. According to the police, there was no evidence of sexual assault, but some of the victims showed defensive injuries.

In mid-November, the suspect lived in a town near the crime scene. Kohberger is pursuing a doctorate in criminal law and criminology from Washington State University. DNA technology has now helped to track down the suspect, investigators told ABC News. Investigations began with a search for a white Hyundai Elantra that was seen near the victims’ home on the day of the killings. By searching for the car, police located the suspect on the opposite end of the United States.

Murder suspect asked enigmatic question

The relationship between the arrested person and the victims is unclear. The murder weapon has not yet been found. As reported by CBS, Kohberger, who is not known to the police, is said to have asked the police officer when he was arrested whether anyone else had been caught. According to a police source, DNA evidence links the alleged perpetrator to the crimes.

A fellow student in Kohberger’s course told the AP news agency that the suspect was confident, intelligent, but also “super clumsy”. “Something he almost always did was explain things in the most complicated way,” he said.

According to the New York Times, Bryan Kohberger is in custody in Pennsylvania. A hearing on his extradition to Idaho is scheduled for Tuesday.
