IDA replenishment in the spotlight

Dakar, Jul 8 (APS) – The Dakar Summit on the implementation of the program of the International Development Association (IDA 20) and other subjects including the celebration of the Tabaski festival are on the menu of the daily newspapers received on Friday at the APS.

Le Soleil highlights the ”Dakar Appeal” for the financing of IDA-20 through lighter mechanisms and underlines that the World Bank is committing for 93 billion dollars.

“In this critical context for Africa, we welcome the success of the record replenishment of IDA resources, for a total amount of ninety-three (93) billion US dollars”, launched the Senegalese Minister of Finance and Budget, Abdoulaye Daouda Diallo reading the Dakar Appeal.

African leaders, meeting in Dakar alongside President Macky Sall, pledged on Thursday to define and operationalize, urgently and optimally, the projects to be implemented under the program of the International Development Association (IDA -20).

They pledged to do so in a declaration known as the Dakar Call to Action, which sanctioned a high-level meeting with African leaders to mobilize African countries for the implementation of the IDA. -20.

The summit saw the presence of the presidents of Nigeria (Muhammadu Buhari), Guinea Bissau (Umaro Sissoco Embaló), Liberia (George Weah), Sierra Leone (Julius Maada Bio), Congo (Denis Sassou Nguesso)

For the ”replenishment of 93 billion US dollars of the Ida-20” the Heads of State ”are committed to meeting the challenges of development”, stresses Bës Bi Le Jour.

”Senegal and the World Bank Group organized yesterday a high-level meeting with African leaders, in order to mobilize African countries for the implementation of the program of the International Development Association (Ida20) ”, writes the daily.

”African governments welcomed the replenishment of US$93 billion of IDA resources, while committing to define and operationalize projects and programs to meet development challenges”, she adds.

During this meeting, ”Macky Sall pleaded for the relaxation of procedures for the disbursement of IDA funds (….)”, reports Le Quotidien.

According to L’As, ”Macky Sall raises the voice of Africa”. “He argues for the absorption of resources” with improved disbursement procedures, writes Kritik.
