ID Austria: The most important facts about the digital smartphone ID – network policy

From summer 2022, ID Austria is to replace the previous cell phone signature; Among other things, the driver’s license and other ID cards should be able to be stored digitally in it. The app should also be available in other European countries. However, this raises numerous questions, for example in relation to a possible re-registration, the new functions and the future of the existing solution. DER STANDARD has asked the Ministry of Economics and Digitization, among others, to answer the most important questions.
