Two million people in Austria now use ID-Austria to complete official procedures online. After a pilot phase, regular operations began on December 5th, with ID-Austria replacing the previously widely used cell phone signature.

By replacing the cell phone signature with ID Austria, Austria meets EU requirements.

To register with ID Austria, a smartphone is usually used on which biometric data such as a fingerprint is stored. If you don’t want that, you can use a FIDO token.
