Nearly 20,000 blood bags needed by July 14
The director of the French Blood Establishment, Stéphane Noël, recalled that the disease does not take vacations. Even during this time of relaxation, patients still need transfusions. Currently, the establishment has in its reserves approximately 90,000 bags of blood. But that would not be enough to cover the summer needs of patients everywhere in France.
So that recipients can have enough blood for the whole summer, between 10,000 and 20,000 additional pockets would be missing. Ideally, this number should be reached before July 14 so that patients, donors and vacationers can enjoy the summer with peace of mind.
