Ice hockey: Roman Josi and Nashville will play in Bern

Four NHL franchises will come to launch their 2022/23 season in Europe. The Predators will play in a warm-up match once morest CP Bern on October 3 at the PostFinance Arena.

Roman Josi, considered one of the best defenders in the world, will return to Bern next October, with his club the Nashville Predators. Josi – who has 89 points in 75 games this season – and his teammates will indeed face CP Bern on October 3 at the PostFinance Arena, as part of the 2022 NHL Global Series.

The NHL and the NHL Players Association have indeed agreed to an agreement on Thursday. For the ninth time, NHL clubs will indeed play championship matches in Europe. The Nashville Predators will kick off their championship game once morest Timo Meier’s San Jose Sharks on October 7-8 in Prague. For its part, the Colorado Avalanche will have played once morest the Columbus Blue Jackets of defender Dean Kukan, on October 4 and 5 in Tampere (Finland).

Before their first two official matches, the Predators and the Sharks will come to participate in a training camp in Europe. And it is in this context that the preparation match between CP Bern and Nashville will take place.

For Roman Josi, it will be a return to basics. The defender, now 31, was trained at CP Bern. He started with the Bernese club’s first team at the age of 16, and three years later he belonged to the framework that had been crowned Swiss champions at the end of the 2009/10 season. Captain of the Predators for five years, Josi has not forgotten his first club, since he has been on the CP Bern Board of Directors since 2020.

The pre-rental for the Bern – Nashville match will be open on May 19, from 10 a.m.
