Ice Hockey: La Chaux-de-Fonds defeats the leader
Thanks to a well-controlled first third, the Neuchâtelois dominated Olten 4-2 on the Solothurn ice. Visp overtakes Sierre in the standings.
Bees are on the rise. Flying over the debates once morest Olten on Tuesday (4-2), La Chaux-de-Fonds won its 6th consecutive match in the Swiss League. On the ice of the leader, the troop of Louis Matte inflicted on the Solothurns their second defeat in a row. The Neuchâtelois have thus lost only one of their last twelve games. It was November 1, in Olten.
To take revenge, HC La Chaux-de-Fonds made the difference in less than two minutes in the initial third. Oliver Achermann took advantage of a numerical superiority to put his team on the right track (10th), Giancarlo Chanton doubling the bet for the visitors shortly following (12th). The path to victory became even clearer at the start of the middle third thanks to David Eugster (22nd).
Le mur Östlund
Viktor Östlund did the rest. Despite the pressure from Solothurn, the Abeilles goalkeeper proved intractable, repelling 15 shots in the second period (34 saves in total). The reduction in the score of Silvan Wyss (48th) did not revive the championship leader, Toms Andersons ensuring Neuchâtel success in the empty cage (60th). The last Solothurn goal, 10 seconds from the siren, did not change anything.
Thanks to this success, the Neuchâtelois return to 4 lengths from Olten. Visp, who beat the Ticino Rockets 6-5 thanks to two successes in the last ten minutes, took 4th place and overtook Sierre, 5th. Too undisciplined, the men of Yves Sarault, who conceded three goals in numerical inferiority, were beaten 4-1 on the ice of HC Thurgovie.
