Ice hockey: Giant scrap of crumbling HV71 – beat series leader Färjestad after a shock start

After six rounds, Färjestad was the only team in the SHL that still hadn’t lost a game this season.

HV71 was jumbo with only three points out of a possible 18.

But today there was a real ice break for the Jönköping team, who took a big lead early in the first period.

2-0 came in a five-on-three game, and just over a minute later, Tanner Kero scored 3-0 in a five-on-four game.

Then the match clock showed 11.32 and Färjestad replaced the goalkeeper Maxime Lagacé who according to Sportbladet reportedly had an outburst of anger before storming into the dressing room. Damian Clara replaced between the posts.

The FBK captain: “A false sense of security”

– They get to rinse and rinse and are intense and desperate while we have won a lot and maybe have a false sense of security, sighed FBK’s captain Linus Johansson in the break interview on TV4.

In the second period, it was 4-0 and HV, who had not scored a single goal in the power play before today’s match, had now been rewarded three times in the form of the game.

– We knew it would eventually release, it’s just a matter of being patient and trusting what you do. Nice that we got to put a few today, says Tanner Kero.

The match ended 6–3 to HV71, which thus breaks Färjestad’s streak of six straight victories.

On SVT Play you can see all goals from all matches in the SHL.
