The Swiss Ice Hockey Federation (SIHF) and SRG SSR have extended the contract governing the broadcasting rights and extended it until the end of the 2027/28 season. From now on, all the matches of the women’s and men’s national A teams will be broadcast live on SRF, RTS and RSI.

The television coverage of the Swiss national teams will be strongly developed from next season. SRG, RTS and RSI will now have live all matches with Swiss participation, i.e. all home and away matches of the women’s and men’s national A teams, as well as the Euro Hockey Tour, bringing together the four best European teams.

Ice hockey upgrade

“We are delighted with the extension of the partnership with the SSR and its extension to the Euro Hockey Tour”, declared Patrick Bloch, CEO of Swiss Ice Hockey, who particularly welcomes the fact that all the matches of the national team A Women’s Championships, including the Worlds, will be broadcast from the coming season. “This is an essential step for us and for the development of women’s ice hockey in Switzerland.”

Patrick Bloch emphasizes that the collaboration with the SSR had proven its worth and guaranteed television viewers throughout Switzerland first-class access to ice hockey at the highest level: “The live broadcast of all the matches of the teams national teams A brings significant added value to the national teams, to Swiss ice hockey and in particular to women’s ice hockey.”

The participation of the men’s national A team in the Euro Hockey Tour notably means that the best European teams of Finland, Sweden and the Czech Republic will play in Switzerland in mid-December. The tournament will stop in Switzerland from December 15-18, 2022 and December 14-17, 2023.
