The directions of mining in Brazil will be presented by Brazilian Mining Institute (IBRAM) and debated with authorities, businessmen and professionals in the sector, between the 2nd and 31st of August, in Belém (PA), at EXPOSIBRAM 2023, considered one of the most important business events in the mineral sector and also opens up a noble space for debates on topics relevant.
In parallel to the technical discussions, the Institute will organize business roundtables between mining companies and suppliers operating in different segments. Mining companies announce investments of US$ 50 billion until 2027 in mining projects and in the contracting of products and services, according to IBRAM study .
According to the Institute, investments in iron ore (34%), socio-environmental (13% = more than US$ 6.5 billion), fertilizers (10%), bauxite (10%), copper (9%) and logistics (9%). “Investments are also planned for the production of other minerals that are crucial for the energy transition, such as rare earths, titanium, vanadium, lithium, as well as zinc, iron, copper, bauxite and nickel”, informs Raul Jungmann, IBRAM’s CEO.
To establish scenarios with projections on business and the expansion of activity in Brazil, the Institute will detail issues related to major themes, such as: hiring more women for various hierarchical positions at mining companies; the production of minerals crucial for the energy transition, as well as the production of fertilizers; the role of the mining activity in the planning of the new industrial policy, in charge of the National Council for Industrial Development; greater involvement of mining companies in the elaboration of the Mineração do Brasil’s ESG Agenda , a set of sectoral commitments to the sustainability and safety of this industry; destination of investments of US$ 50 billion in mining in Brazil until 2027, with more than US$ 6.5 billion for socio-environmental projects.
These topics constitute the main points of the programming of the 2023 edition of the Brazilian Mining Expo & Congress (EXPOSIBRAM) , which IBRAM will hold from the 28th to the 31st of August, in Belém. The event has been held for regarding 40 years. It will have the participation of businessmen, authorities, professionals and researchers from the mineral sector and delegations from several countries (businessmen and diplomats).
Business roundtables will bring together more than 20 mining companies and hundreds of suppliers
In addition, EXPOSIBRAM 2023 will bring together more than 20 mining companies from 235 selected suppliers, from Brazil and abroad, to close contracts. The business roundtables will bring together well-known Brazilian and international mining brands, such as AngloGold Ashanti, Anglo American, Vale (Salobo Metais), Kinross Brasil Mineração, Mineração Usiminas, Nexa Resources, Mineração Rio do Norte and Mineração Taboca.
Mining companies are interested in learning regarding the offer of products and services from different sectors, such as the socio-environmental area (renewable energy, impact mitigation, relationship with communities, diversity and inclusion, etc.); logistics; machinery, vehicles, equipment and geological research for mineral production; technological innovations; items focused on human resources, occupational and operational health and safety, among other segments.
