IN the film “See you later, Hanna!”, Ibrahim Risyad took a new challenge in his acting career by playing Arya. Arya is a smart campus activist, but has a manipulative and problematic nature.

In the press conference session for the launch of the teaser poster and teaser trailer for the film “See you later, Hanna!”, Ibrahim talked about his role and how he explored the complex character of Arya.

Ibrahim explained that Arya was described as a senior student who was very active and accomplished on campus. As an activist, Arya is known to be intelligent and caring. However, behind her perfect appearance on campus, Arya has a dark side.

“Arya has two sides. On the one hand, he looks like a perfect figure, accomplished and active on campus. “But on the other hand, he is a man who is toxic, manipulative, and has excessive behavior in showing affection,” said Ibrahim.

For Ibrahim, playing the character of Arya was a big challenge because this was the first time he had to play the role of a toxic man. “The biggest challenge was playing Arya’s manipulative side. “This is the first time I have had a role like this, so it requires a lot of character depth,” he said.

Character Deepening: Finding the Roots of Arya’s Toxic Traits

The process of deepening Arya’s character requires an unusual approach. Ibrahim admitted that he felt close to Arya’s campus activist side because he had been an activist while studying in Bandung, but exploring the problematic side of this character required extra effort.

“It’s easy because I was once a campus activist in Bandung, so I could realize that role easily. “But the challenge is to bring out the toxic character Arya, who is manipulative and excessive in showing feelings,” he explained.

To deepen this role, Ibrahim had to delve into Arya’s emotional and psychological background. He studies how the past and trauma can influence a person’s behavior, forming toxic traits.

“I started to see the background and effects of problems in life that make someone become like Arya. Why is he so manipulative and excessive in his love? “This is what I learned during the character development process,” he said.

Arya’s character is described as someone who looks perfect on the outside, but is dangerous to those close to her. Ibrahim attempts to capture this contrast in his performance in the film.

“Arya looks perfect from the outside, but it’s all just camouflage. “Behind that, there is a dark side that he hides, and that is a challenge to show,” added Ibrahim.

New Challenges and Experiences in the World of Acting

Taking on the role of a toxic man is a new challenge for Ibrahim, who previously often played more positive characters. Even so, he saw this role as an opportunity to show his acting abilities in exploring more complicated dimensions of the character.

“It took courage to take on this role, especially because a toxic role like Arya is not something I’m used to playing. “But this is actually a big opportunity for me to grow as an actor,” said Ibrahim.

In building chemistry with his co-stars, especially Febby Rastanty who plays Hanna, Ibrahim said that strong chemistry is very important to present authentic relationship dynamics. With a background as a manipulative man, Arya must be able to make the audience feel the impact of his toxic nature on Hanna and the other characters around him.

With the film “See You Later, Hanna!” which will air on December 5 2024, Ibrahim hopes that viewers can get the message from Arya’s complex character. His role as a man who looks perfect on the outside, but has a manipulative nature on the inside, is expected to provoke viewers’ emotions and make them reflect on the dark side of unhealthy relationships.

For Ibrahim, the experience of playing Arya not only added to his portfolio as an actor, but also taught him a lesson about the importance of exploring character psychology to give maximum performance on the big screen. (Z-3)
