It seems that the Seat brand has decided to celebrate the anniversary of the Ibiza hatchback all year, which will turn 40 in 2024. It’s the second month of the year, and the Spanish brand is already announcing the second special version of the model. Following the Ibiza Style Edition presented in January, the limited edition Ibiza FR Anniversary Edition will now be released.
This time the birthday girl doesn’t have a lot of gifts, but she has something to brag regarding. The Birthday version features a new special Graphene Gray exterior color and huge 18-inch alloy wheels in Cosmo Gray. There are also less noticeable details like the Anniversary Limited Edition logo in the area of the B-pillar of the roof.
The same inscription is engraved on the decorative door sill trims, which catch your eye as soon as you open the car door. Similar dark brushed aluminum adorns the dashboard, center console and door panels. For an additional fee, future owners of this special version can order it with sports bucket seats with fabric upholstery.
Let us remember that the first generation of the Seat Ibiza hatchback, named following the Spanish island, debuted in 1984, even before the takeover of the brand by the Volkswagen concern. This was a turning point in the history of the brand. After all, Ibiza was the first car developed by Seat without the support of Fiat.
To create the first Ibiza, the Spaniards invited the legendary Giorgetto Giugiaro, who worked on its exterior. Stylists from the well-known German studio Karmann helped with the interior. And Porsche engineers had a hand in creating the transmission.
Since the debut of the first Seat Ibiza hatchback, five generations of this model have been released, which over four decades have sold over 6 million copies around the world. The start of sales of the anniversary special version is scheduled in Europe at the end of February.
