Iberdrola’s subsidiary in the Americas, Avangrid, has signed a PPA with Meta for True North, a 240 MW solar park under development in Falls County, Texas. It is also Avangrid’s first photovoltaic plant in that state, where the company already operates more than 1,250 MW of onshore wind farms.
The True North project will support Meta’s upcoming data center in neighboring Temple, its second data center facility in Texas. True North is expected to enter commercial operation in early 2025.
With more than 8.6 GW of installed renewable capacity, including 1.1 GW of solar projects in operation and under construction, Avangrid is the third largest renewable energy operator in the United States.
The company recently commissioned the 150 MW Lund Hill, Klickitat, Washington, state’s largest solar facility. In total, Avangrid has a portfolio of more than 25 GW under development, covering solar, onshore wind, offshore wind and battery energy storage.
