The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said on the 3rd (local time) that the power lines supplied to the Zaporiza nuclear power plant in Ukraine were cut off at one time.

The IAEA said on its official website that it had been informed of this fact from the inspectors currently staying at the Japorija nuclear power plant.

The bombing around the Zaporiza nuclear power plant, which has continued since the beginning of this month, has damaged three of the four transmission lines connected to the Ukrainian power grid. The last remaining transmission line was supplied with the power needed to operate the nuclear power plant, but even this was cut off at one time.

The IAEA said that the 750kV power transmission line was damaged, but the power grid was restored by connecting a spare power line connected to a nearby thermal power plant.

Inspectors led by IAEA Secretary General Rafael Grossi arrived at the Japoriza nuclear power plant on the 1st and conducted a safety check. Since then, bombing near the Zaporiza nuclear power plant has continued, and Russia and Ukraine are blaming the other, claiming that they are the other. A pro-Russian government official said on Telegram on the same day, “Ukrainian forces bombarded the nuclear power plant and the power line was cut off.

The risk of radioactive material leakage has increased as military actions have increased in the vicinity of the Japoriza nuclear power plant. The Russian army claimed that the Ukrainian forces sent troops to the Zaporiza nuclear power plant the night before and attempted to retake it, but failed and retreated. The Russian Defense Ministry said that 250 Ukrainian naval forces attempted to cross a lake near the Zaporiza nuclear power plant at around 11 p.m.
