“I worked from 5 a.m. to 1 a.m.”

The managers have made their decision: barely five months following opening, the Mastel bakery in Onderbergen is closed. It will be the same on October 1 for that of Tondelier. Sam and Stéfanie explain to the Newspaper thought carefully before making their choice. They will now be content with their restaurant “Maste”.

Sam says his days were endless: “I worked days from 5:30 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. That only leaves four hours to freshen up and sleep. It was not good for my health”. If he worked so much, it was due to a lack of qualified personnel. “You don’t always get the energy you put into your business and your people in return. It was difficult to find motivated and trained staff,” laments the couple.

Added to this was the rising cost of living, energy and raw materials. “It was the right decision for us to close the bakeries,” conclude Sam and Stéfanie.
