“I will make the appropriate decisions”

Opposition candidate for the presidential election, Edmundo González Urrutia, denied on Friday rumors that he would hand over power to María Corina Machado if he wins the July 28 election.

“It’s not like that. I have my profile. I will make the decisions that are appropriate and in the Government there is room for all the leaders who were committed to seeking democratic transformation in Venezuela,” he explained in an interview with Tal Cual.

He also denied being a “banner candidate” or a puppet. “Foolish words turn a deaf ear.” He clarified to the Chavista audience that “I am the candidate of the Unitary Platform.”

In this regard, he reiterated his support and union with the leader of Vente Venezuela (VV). «María Corina Machado is a key leader of the opposition. She was in a primary election process that she won by a wide margin and is working tirelessly for the candidacy of Edmundo González, of the Unitary Platform, for the victory on July 28. In all her tours, that is the message she is transmitting.»

He stressed that they are all working together in the same direction, “rowing in the same direction, with the aim not only of achieving victory, but of ensuring the guarantees of the vote, ensuring that the vote that we have will be protected.”

Regarding his proposal, González said that it is open to all Venezuelans, “that this is a candidacy that seeks the re-institutionalization of the country, the reconstruction among Venezuelans, where there will be no discrimination based on political thinking.”
