Police in Memphis, Tennessee, announced the arrest of a suspect in the kidnapping of a woman who did not return home following going out for an early morning jog.
And the police revealed, via Twitter, that the accused, Cleota Upston, 38, had been charged with kidnapping and tampering with evidence. She added that she had detained Upstone, following finding him in an SUV, which the authorities were looking for in connection with the kidnapping, according to ABC News.
Another person, Mario Upston, 36, was also arrested on charges related to drug and firearms possession, and is currently believed to be unrelated to the kidnapping incident.
Police said Elisa Fletcher, 34, is still missing and that they are continuing to search for her, with her local and federal partners.
Fletcher was last seen running on Central Avenue and Zach Corlin Street in downtown Memphis, near the University of Memphis campus, in southwest Tennessee. Then an unknown person approached her and apparently forced her into a dark car, according to police, who explained that the SUV later moved west on Central Avenue.
Fletcher was wearing a pink sports shirt and purple pants at the time of her abduction.
St. Mary’s Episcopal School in Memphis said in a statement on social media that Fletcher was a “lovable” kindergarten teacher at the girls’ middle school.
