“I was shouting ‘It’s money’!”

Vicky Umodu lives in California and she’s not rolling in gold. Recently, while browsing the Craiglist site (a classifieds site in the United States, editor’s note), this mother came across some free articles. “I came across a family who wanted to offer a sofa as well as all the elements that made up their room,” she explains to ABC7.

Thinking of a scam, Vicky prefers to ensure the good faith of the sellers. After calling them, she is reassured and accepts the generous offer. “I just moved in and I have nothing at home. I was so excited, so we went straight to pick him up and took him home.”

Except that once at home, the mother discovers something strange inside one of the cushions. “I thought it was a heating pad,” she says. Opening it, however, Vicky discovers something quite different: large envelopes with several $100 bills. Total amount? 35,000 dollars (more than 32,000 euros)!

A surprising discovery which, however, did not want to take advantage of the mother. “I was just saying to my son, come on, come on, come on! I was shouting ‘It’s money! I have to call the guy’” Vicky eventually returned the full amount to the family who had gifted her the sofa. “God has been kind to me and my children, they are all healthy. I have three beautiful grandchildren, so what more can I ask for? »

Touched by Vicky’s honesty, the family offered her $2,500 to buy a new refrigerator. What was the money doing in the sofa? She still does not know why the deceased parents had hidden so many tickets in several objects in their house.
