Guest of Honor at Camp Paul George, Reggie Jackson paid a nice tribute to the Clippers winger, who pulled him out of a tough time in 2019 by making sure he might join the Clippers following 5 years in Detroit.
“We made the playoffs when I arrived (at the Pistons). At the same time, I had a lot of injuries. You go through phases of doubt, there are defeatists, criticism from fans. I really started to question myself. To the point where… And that’s why you should never let anyone do that to you in life, take away your enjoyment of doing the things you love. Because I was really going to retire.
And the reason you see me so happy today is because my brother here beside me saved me. He called me and told me they were coming to get me. We still laugh regarding it today because I kicked it out. I do not believe it. I was going to retire. He came to get me, the first year we didn’t have a great season, but I was able to get back in condition, and I was playing with the best players so I didn’t have to play as much. »
