The Groupama-FDJ rider will retire at the end of the season, eleven years following his first Tour.
This summer, he wants to have fun. At 33, and a few months from retiring, Thibaut Pinot will compete in the last Tour de France of his career. A moment he intends to enjoy. “I want to ride the bike I love, to attack”he assures the microphone of all sports. “As my first Tour in 2012, I really arrived to have fun, I am in this perspective there this year.”
“A lot of joy and a lot of pain”
On the roads of France this summer, he will write the last chapter of an eventful history with the Tour, from his successes in Alpe d’Huez (2015) or Tourmalet (2019) to his abandonment at the very end of the 2019 edition, when he was placed for the final victory. “It was very beautiful, it was often very hard too. There was a lot of joy, and a lot of pain”, he rewinds. A story that he hopes ends in the most beautiful way, why not with a 4th stage victory.
