Social media pioneers circulated a video clip from the press conference held this Saturday evening at the Society of Authors and Composers on intellectual property rights and the heritage of the planet “Umm Kulthum.”
The video showed the artist and composer Amr Mostafa getting emotional at one of the attendees after a document in Umm Kulthum’s handwriting was revealed revealing that she had given up a large portion of the rights to her concerts, with some questioning the authenticity of the document.

The Egyptian Society of Authors, Composers and Publishers held a press conference, in the Mohamed Hassanein Heikal Hall at the Journalists Syndicate, about intellectual property rights, the heritage of “Umm Kulthum” and art symbols, in the presence of Dr. Medhat El Adl, President of the Society, radio personality Nadia Mabrouk, President of the Cairo Audio and Visual Company, and Dr. Hossam Lotfy, Advisor. Medhat Al-Adl said that the reason for holding the conference is the confusion and controversy that has arisen and continues to arise, regarding the ownership rights of the heritage of the planet East and the symbols of art, and the claim of one of the production companies that it owns the intellectual property rights of this heritage, without any right or legal basis, and that there are important documents and judicial rulings confirming the opposite. As for the artist Amr Mostafa, he called on the House of Representatives to intervene to resolve the controversy over the ownership of the heritage of art symbols and to clarify that the Society of Authors and Composers is the only one with the right to authorize the use of this heritage.
It is noteworthy that Amr Mostafa ended his dispute with the heirs of “Umm Kulthum” over intellectual property rights and the use of the late voice by artificial intelligence, and published an audio clip of her singing from his words and melodies, amid threats from producer Mohsen Gaber to sue him due to his possession of some of the rights to the concerts of Kawkab Al-Sharq, which are shown on his “Mazzika” channel. “.
