As a reminder: on March 27, 2022, actor Chris Rock was a presenter during the 94th Academy Awards. The latter compared Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved hair to that of Demi Moore in the film “On equal terms” (GI Jane) while Will Smith’s wife suffers from alopecia.

Will Smith then came on stage and slapped Chris Rock. “I thought, ‘It’s a sketch'”, she explains a year and a half later. Like many people who watched the show, she didn’t believe it was true at first. “I thought, ‘There’s no reason for Will to hit him.’

It was only when her husband returned to his chair that she realized it wasn’t a skit. The first thing Jada Pinkett Smith said to him when they were alone after the live show was “Are you OK?”

“We love each other deeply”

For the actress, the “work is in progress” to be well is in progress on Will Smith’s side. She talks about it in a book, Worthy, scheduled for release on October 17. “I’m going to be by his side but I’m also going to allow him to sort this out on his own.”

If they are still officially married, Jada Pinkett Smith explains that they had already been separated for 6 years by the time of the Oscars in 2022. “We’ve done a lot of hard work together. We love each other deeply and we’re going to find out what that means for us.”

In his book Worthythe essential actress of Matrix also talks about her difficult childhood, her depression and how she managed to get through it with the help of her children. “The level of love, unconditional love that they have for me and for their father. It’s one thing to want to be a person who gives unconditional love. It’s another thing to be the one who receive it.”
