Balochistan I Women’s Flag Football To introduce the first ever American-style two-day women’s flag football championship was played in Quetta.
In the championship Quetta Eight teams from different schools participated. In the final, Blues (Bees Girls High School) defeated Green (Government High School Railway) to win the title. Prizes were also given to the first and second place teams.
In the 1960s, the game was called ‘touch and tail football’, which later became ‘flag football’.
The birthplace of flag football is considered to be the American state of Maryland. It began as a recreational sport designed to keep American soldiers fit.
It was designed to protect soldiers from injury during battle. In flag football, as in American rugby, players are tackled by pulling a flag attached to the player’s body instead of being tackled by falling on the field.
Players have to run or pass the ball to the other corner of the field which is called a touchdown. A win or loss is decided on points.
Flag football has not been promoted in Pakistan yet, but this game is common in many countries of the world.

Ayesha Qazi of Lahore has the honor of being the first trained flag football coach in Pakistan.
Alia Nasri, a player belonging to the Women’s Flag Football Association, said that in this game, the player has to be agile.
“In flag football, whoever is smarter, whose mind works faster is the one who can get ahead in it.”
Alia told the difference between football and flag football that football is played with feet while flag football is played with hands.
He advised the girls of Balochistan to come more and more in this game and make the name of Pakistan bright.
Barira Shah, Vice President of Flag Football Association Balochistan, says that if the game is learned, it is not difficult. ‘Yes, the method is the most distinct part of this game. I tell girls to play this game.’
