I survived Meghan and Harry

Prince Harry and his Duchess Meghan have achieved something absolutely extraordinary. Extremely rare, even.

They succeeded in achieving unanimity.

From tabloids to leftist newspapers, from Conservatives to Labour, rarely have we seen such a consensus. Not only fed up, but disgust at their narcissistic procrastination. Some even mentioned feeling nauseous. Must do it!

Did the rebellious couple go too far? Only the last three episodes of his television outpouring will definitively settle the question. But let’s say the first three hours give a bitter taste.

kingdom of contradictions

“Books have been written regarding our history by people we don’t know. Why not hear it from us? ” proclaims the Duchess of Sussex in the first minutes of the series.

However, the exercise is of a kindness that transcends the limits of reality.

The spouses seem to spend so much time filming each other on their iPhones that it makes you wonder what else they do for a living. And what regarding the scenes at the time of the break with the royal family where one and the other film their scratching sessions, tears in support!

It makes you wonder if all the scandal and the cinema-verité that was to follow were not meticulously planned.

But above all, the whole project is undermined by a fundamental contradiction.

You see, Harry is at war with the British press’ morbid obsession with his family’s privacy. It is understandable, moreover, the paparazzi killed his mother and poisoned his life.

However, how to denounce the media while lending oneself to the game of a pseudo-documentary which only amplifies it?

All the same…

And yet, these three hours of syrup are not totally lacking in interest.

The long passages on the architecture of the relationship between the British press and the royal family are fascinating. We discover behind the scenes of the pact which allows the royal family to put on a show to boost its popularity.

All the reflection around the taboo of racism in Great Britain aimed at making people forget the role of the monarchy in slavery is also very enlightening.

It deserves to be seen.

It especially illustrates that the best segments of the series are those which are not regarding Meghan and Harry!

glass palace

Eventually, washing your dirty laundry in public became the business of Prince Harry. You have to make a good living when you drink magnums of champagne and live in a $15 million estate.

Since he will not be entitled to the crown, the terrible child of the Windsor family seems above all determined to unbolt the monarchy which has nevertheless given him all the privileges and the visibility that he claims loud and clear.

Between his whining, which has already lasted too long, and the anachronism of this royalty, which he persists in denouncing, he might well get there.

One thing is clear, immersed in the unhealthy universe of Meghan and Harry, we clearly understand that the abolition of the oath to King Charles should only be the beginning of a broader debate on Canada’s ties with this foreign monarchy.
