“I recycle – I change a water heater”: How the beneficiaries will be selected

Open to all TINs is the platform of the program “I recycle – I change a water heater“, in which beneficiaries can submit their applications until June 20.

The application is submitted electronically on the platform www.allazothermosifona.gov.gr until June 20 and concerns those who wish to replace their old electric water heaters with new ones of modern technology.

The beneficiaries they must be domestic consumers who have installed an electric water heater in their residence, must have been born before January 1, 2006, and must reside permanently in Greece.

It is noted that:

  • Beneficiaries with an average annual income per family member exceeding 30,000 euros are not eligible.
  • It is not possible to submit an application for households that have submitted an application or joined another energy saving program, such as for example “Save – Autonomy” or “Save 2021”.

The final selection of the beneficiaries will result from a combination of economic and social criteria, such as the average annual income per family member, but also whether it is families with disabled members, single-parent families, with at least one dependent child and families with dependent members .

The selection of beneficiaries

Funding applications are classified based on their score into eligible and runners-up as follows:

Based on the data of the submitted applications, the amounts of public expenditure attributable to each Region for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd income categories are initially calculated.

Applications are then classified into 26 distinct lists, as follows:

  • 1st income category applications are ranked in 13 separate lists – one per Region, always starting with the one with the highest score and proceeding in descending order of ranking.
  • The 2nd and 3rd income category applications are ranked together in 13 separate lists – one per Region, always starting with the one with the highest score and proceeding in descending order of ranking.

Applications are selected for each distinct list, either until the Program’s available public expenditure for the specific Region is exhausted, or until all applications are covered if the corresponding public expenditure is sufficient. These applications are included in the table of applications eligible for funding in the specific list.

In the event that all the applications of the 1st income category are included in the table of eligible applications without covering the total public expenditure, the surplus amount is used to grant the runner-up applications of the 2nd and 3rd income categories.

Conversely, in the event that all applications of the 2nd and 3rd income categories are included in the list of eligible applications without covering the total public expenditure, the excess amount is used to grant runner-up applications of the 1st income category.

In the event that the available public expenditure of either the 1st, 2nd and 3rd income categories is used up, the surplus applications are included in the table of runner-up applications of the specific list and may be financed if:

  • Increase public spending with a later decision.
  • Released public expenditure due to non-use of a check or cashing it at a lower value than intended (release of funds).
