‘Arkariyam’ starring Biju Menon, Sharafuddin and Parvathy has been hailed as one of the best films of the last year. The roles of Biju Menon and Sharafuddin in the film were highly acclaimed by the audience and critics. Saiju Kurup has revealed that he was initially cast in the role of Roy played by Sharafuddin in the film. Saiju Kurup said that he might not be a part of the movie because of the clash with the date of the movie ‘Meppadiyan’. Who knows, it took 30 days to get a role in a movie. However, Saiju Kurup said that he quit the lead role as it was difficult to act in two films at the same time and that he was forced to play the role of a friend in the film due to the love affair of director Sanu John Varghese as only a few days were required. Saiju Kurup also said that he might not act in Nizhal and Djibouti due to the busy schedule of Meppadiyan.
Saiju Kurup’s words:
The first thing I was told to do was the character Sharaf in the movie ‘Who Knows’. But the clash came with Meppatiyan’s date. It took a 30 days to do that character. Written and directed by Sanu Chettan (Sanu Varghese). I had a great desire to do that character. But you can’t act in two movies at the same time. After that, Sanu Chettan said that you should play the role of a friend, for which dating is enough. That’s how the character did it. I was going to do the role of Dr. Ronnie in the movie Shadow as well. Then came this problem too. So did another character who only needed a few days. I might not do the movie Djibouti so I had to give up some movies. The characters in some of the movies had to be changed. I really liked the character of Meppadiyan.
