I. Klymenko: 30 people were killed and another 160 were injured during the massive Russian attack

“Currently, 30 people have been confirmed dead and more than 160 injured as a result of the massive Russian attack on the territory of Ukraine this morning,” he wrote on the Telegram platform.

It was the most massive attack since the start of the war, which Russia launched in February 2022.

Ukrainian officials said the attacks hit schools, maternity homes, shopping centers and apartment buildings.

The attacks, which saw a Russian missile fly through Polish airspace, drew condemnation from the international community and renewed pledges of military support for Ukraine, which has been battling invading Russian forces since late February 2022.

“Today, Russia struck with almost everything it has in its arsenal,” said President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The Ukrainian Air Force said earlier that 114 out of 158 air targets were destroyed during this mass attack.

Air Force spokesman Yuri Ignats told AFP that it was a record number of missiles and “the most massive missile attack of the entire war, apart from the first days of continuous bombing”.

Russia attempted to overwhelm Ukraine’s air defenses in most major cities by launching a wave of Shahed-type drones, followed by the launch of various types of missiles from aircraft and from Russian-controlled territory.

Russia’s military said its armed forces had carried out 50 cluster strikes and one mass strike on military facilities in Ukraine over the past week, adding that “all targets were hit”.
