Former Pilsen hockey player Michal Houdek has officially commented on the incident from the match of the 45th round of the Tipsport extraliga in Pilsen.
On Monday, February 12, the Pilsen stadium experienced a terrifying moment when one of the Pilsen players was left lying motionless on the ice following a hit. Pilsen striker Tim Söderlund was left lying on the ice following a hit by Houdka. The rescuers took him from the area on a stretcher. Explzeň’s Michal Houdek received a 5-minute penalty + until the end of the match.
“Tim Söderlund is out of danger, conscious and remains in hospital. We will continue to inform you regarding the state of health.” announced the management of the HC Škoda Plzeň club following the match.
The current Pilsen goalkeeper Milan Klouček also commented on the attack on the Pilsen attacker. “It was a terrible feeling. I don’t want to fully evaluate the tackle because I didn’t see much of it across the field. Of course we were all worried regarding Tim, health is the most important thing. Fortunately, we learned following the match that he is stable and out of danger, for which we are very happy.”
Today Pardubice Dynamo issued an official statement by Michal Houdek:
“First of all, I would like to wish Tim a full recovery. I texted him right following the game and I hope he’s okay. I have never entered a fight with the intention of injuring an opponent and I regret the consequences of yesterday’s unfortunate intervention. In hockey you often make decisions in a split second and unfortunately I hit Tim unluckily. I know this situation casts a bad light on Dynamo’s performance yesterday. Now all that remains is to wait for the decision of the disciplinary committee and humbly accept the punishment that they will give me. After my return, I will do everything to be beneficial to the team and prove to all of Pardubice that I will breathe for Dynamo and that I am a good hockey player. Once once more I apologize to everyone I have caused inconvenience, especially Tim and his family, both clubs and their fans. The most important thing is health.”
