I hope Messi wins the World Cup

French striker Andre Pierre Gignac revealed his desire for Argentine star Lionel Messi to win the current World Cup, despite his country reaching the semi-finals following defeating England.

France reached the semi-finals of the World Cup with the goals of Choameni and Giroud to face Morocco, while the penalty shootout decided Argentina’s qualification to the same round following an exciting match once morest the Netherlands.

Gignac, the former France striker and the current Mexican club Tigres Onal, revealed in an interview with the American “Fox Sports”, which was reported by the Portuguese “Record”: Today in Argentina they wish Messi to win the World Cup. Messi hopes to win the World Cup for the first time in his history and the third for the country following 1978 and 1986 following he was close to it in 2014 before losing in the final from Germany left by Mario Gotze in the second extra half.

Gignac, 37, played for the French national team from 2009 to 2016, intermittently. He participated in the 2010 World Cup and the 2016 European Cup, during which he scored 7 goals in 36 matches.
