Tanja and Lieven have been a couple for almost thirty years and opened the Pullman together in Blankenberge. The building is due to be demolished in September and this summer was to be the Pullman’s last. However, Lieven fell ill this year and was taken to hospital while the couple were on holiday in France. “Because of his health, we might not keep the restaurant open for another season,” she explains to the Nieuwsblad.
Lieven eventually died of his illness in mid-July, aged 58. Tanja therefore had to say goodbye to her business, and to her husband: “It’s difficult at the moment. I have to mourn two times at the same time. But we have to get out of it”.
This is why the Flemish will organize a last evening at the Pullman this Friday with her friends, her family and her clients. “In honor of the restaurant, but especially of Lieven”.
