Actor-director Mahesh says it’s okay to blame people for not liking Prithviraj’s look in the film Calendar. Mahesh said that Prithviraj’s look had changed when he did bodybuilding for the film Raavan and he did not do anything deliberately to make his look that way when he came to act in his film. He was speaking in an interview given to Popper Stop Malayalam.
‘It is not my problem that people did not like Prithviraj’s look in the film Calendar. He did body building by going to the gym for four to five hours for the film Raavan. Then the large body belongs to Pulli.
Coming to the calendar, I gave him a t-shirt to make him look younger, Mundi and a black shoe to give him the Kottayam Achayan look. I can’t do anything beyond that. So you can’t blame me. Am I deliberately trying to make him old?
He is solely responsible for the well-being of the spot. He has his own personal make-up man, costume designer and personal bodyguard. A person who cares regarding everything. What would I do to such a person?
Even if I think so, he will not watch. Not many people know cinema like he does. Bully is a person who does homework well for a character. Knowing the system well, it is enough to handle the camera as well. What should I do with him,’ said Mahesh.
He said that while directing Calendar, he got the script on location and he might not study the script further.
‘When one is directing for the first time he has to learn the script well, but only then can he do the scene with precision. But I often got that script on location. They are sitting there writing it.
Serena is there, Navya is there, Raju is there. Then I will take time to think it all over and make a decision. Ambili Chetan arrived late and there was pressure from the producer. I made that film out of a lot of constraints,’ said Mahesh.
