Launched on France 2 in 1998, the show Looking forward to Sunday has become over the years one of the most emblematic programs of the public service, and of the French audiovisual landscape in general. Even if the Sunday program played by Michel Drucker has been transferred to France 3 since 2021, viewers are still there every week. Sunday March 24, 2024, the historic host of the France Télévisions group once once more received several guests on his famous red sofa. Among the latter, we can notably cite one of Michel Drucker’s legendary sisters, Marina Carrère d’Encausse. At the controls of Health Magazine since its creation in 1998 on France 5, the host will unfortunately see her show be canceled at the end of the season.
During her time on Michel Drucker’s red sofa, Marina Carrère d’Encausse agreed to talk regarding the terrible accident she suffered when she was only 24 years old. At the time of the tragedy, she was in a car alongside her father, when the vehicle hit a tree head-on at a speed of 130km/h. “The car radiator exploded in my foot“, also specified Marina Carrère d’Encausse. The year which followed this accident was very painful for the future presenter, who “been operated on several times“, because she was”hurt in lots of different places“. “Did you continue to suffer for several years?“, Michel Drucker then wanted to know.
Marina Carrère d’Encausse suffered severe burns from her accident
“Yes. I continued to suffer. Firstly because I had severe burns. And then because I had other problems. But, honestly, I don’t regret it. Because I think it allowed me to appreciate existence in a more intense way. Every day is another day“, underlined Marina Carrère d’Encausse. “And then a doctor with a health problem, he knows what it is“, Michel Drucker quickly replied. “And as a result, it makes you more human, I think. For me, in any case, it made me a more human doctor“, finally concluded the host of the Health magazine. As a reminder, Marina Carrère d’Encausse first practiced medicine before embarking on a career as a television presenter.
