From July 14 to 29, 2024, 49 young people from all over the world will be guests of NASA to take part in a fictional mission to Mars. Two young Costarmoricans, students from the Saint-Charles high school in Saint-Brieuc, have won their ticket to Houston. Meeting with two budding astronauts.
Clara and Maël already have their heads in the stars. In July, these two first year students from Saint-Charles high school in Saint-Brieuc will head to Houston to participate in the preparation of a mission to Mars organized by NASA.
“I have always been fascinated by the stars, says Clara Mazurat and I started to wonder how it was up there, why there were little dots in the sky, and that’s how it came, while reading and looking through the telescope ” remembers the high school student.
Maël, too, has always been intrigued by space and the machines that venture there. ” When my father showed me a video of the SpaceX starship, it was the design of the program, and it immediately interested me.”
Selected from thirty candidates, the two apprentice astronauts made the difference through their motivation. They are the only two French students to participate in the fictitious mission to Mars organized by NASA in Houston.

The former establishment of astronaut Jean-Lou Chrétien is the only one in France involved in this program. For 32 years, this has sparked vocations.
“We have students for whom the professional project is already well defined and who already wish to be in the field of aerospace, space biology, explains Haude Wdowik Referent Professor of the “United Space School” program. They apply for this project to be able to have this opportunity to discover the world of aeronautics and aerospace.“

Before their fortnight in July in Texas, Clara and Maël are now looking for partners to finance their trip.
