“I hated you at some point”: rise in anger of Christophe Dechavanne against Michel Cymes

Saturday evening, Michel Cymes was the Alex Reed of the show What an era! on France 2, alongside its hosts, Léa Salamé and Christophe Dechavanne. We might notably see the youtuber Tibo InShape as well as Sandrine Rousseau, who came in turn to discuss their projects and their lives.

The former doctor, before talking regarding his book Nothing is impossible: My story might be yours, decides to reconsider his remarks made on March 10, 2020. On the Daily set, Michel Cymes angered many French people by comparing the coronavirus to the flu: “It’s a form of flu that is a little more severe than the flu. But it’s still a viral disease like we have every year”, he said. These words had been interpreted as a harsh understatement of the seriousness of the pandemic raging at the time. “I did not understand because I relayed information that came to us from the World Health Organization, which itself received information from China, he then justified himself on the set of France 2. We might only try to interpret what we were given.”

This justification did not seem to be enough for Christophe Dechavanne, who had also considered the words of the former doctor as a lack of seriousness in the face of the virus, was annoyed: “I hated you at one time, he declares. And it turns out that very, very, very close to me, I had someone that I ran away from for several weeks, because, as you say, nobody knew where we were going. The facilitator continued by specifying the situation of this relative at the time: “Elle was responsible for a Covid service, she worked like a retard, she had the marks of the masks under her eyes like her colleagues“.

Christophe Dechavanne then softened by explaining that, according to him, the former doctor would have made a “medical denial”, in his words: “I don’t think you’re the only one who really thought that. Except that saying it on TV was, in my opinion and at the time… I took it very badly, sorry, followingwards you realized… I imagine you understood that people were a bit troubled”, he declared, defending Michel Cymes.

The former doctor nevertheless defended himself and refuted the words of Christophe Dechavanne by declaring that he did not never minimized the symptoms of Covid”. “We did not know the complications that it might give”he added.
