Rahman, who entered the cinema with Padmarajan’s ‘Koodevete’, is now shining in foreign languages beyond Malayalam cinema. He is also a favorite among Tamil film fans.
Rahman says that the continuous villainous characters have created gaps in his film career. In an interview to Can Channel Media, he said that later he did not choose such roles and following that the opportunities decreased.
“There is a trend in cinema that if one character gets popular, then all the characters that follow will be like that. That happened to me too. I don’t take all the characters that came later.
But following that the chances were less and less. Then I decided to do good negative characters. But I wasn’t interested in playing the role of the hero. That’s how characters like Billa and Singham did. But I was not interested in doing the bill. Because Ajith was the hero in it. I didn’t know regarding Ajith before. But I understood from the news that he is very arrogant. Some people said it was just the media saying it. They agreed to do the role because of me.
It was only later that Ajith’s true nature came to be known. He is a very good man,’ Rahman said.
He said that he wanted to do villainous roles to change his nickname of ‘Chocolate Boy’ but he didn’t get it. Later he said that he played villainous roles for his survival.
Wanted to play villain roles to change the name ‘Chocolate Boy’. Didn’t get it then. But when I got those roles, I did it for survival,’ said Rahman.
