Kim Hyun-cheol, president of the Dunchon Jugong Reconstruction Apartment Association in Gangdong-gu, Seoul, announced his intention to resign. It is noteworthy whether the resignation of Kim Guildang will provide a clue to the resolution of the Dunchon Jugong incident, which has suffered lameness.

According to the maintenance industry on the 17th, union leader Kim sent a group message to union members saying, “I will resign as union president from today.” He said, “I did my best to proceed with the business in a direction that would benefit only 6,000 union members, but now I am feeling the limits of my capabilities. Considering that it can cause damage, now I want to make a decision.”

Chairman Kim said, “I hope that (the construction company) will spur business normalization with my resignation and the dismissal of the advisory committee. I give,” he added.

Dunchon Jugong Reconstruction is a project to build the ‘Olympic Park Foreon’ with 85 buildings and 35 stories above the ground on the site of ‘Jugong Apartment’ in Dunchon 1-dong, Gangdong-gu, Seoul with a total of 12,032 households. The construction was suspended from April 15th due to conflicts over the increase in construction cost.

The reason for the decision of the current union president to resign is said to be the pressure from the worsening public opinion. Although the city of Seoul has recently started mediating, negotiations have become difficult as the dispute over shopping malls has emerged as a new issue. It is interpreted that the public opinion of union members has changed negatively as the suspicion of splitting the shares in the shopping mall is revealed, and the burden of the 700 billion won loan for business expenses that arrives next month was not too small.
