I discovered this Neuquén paradise hidden in the Andes Mountains

The idea was to get out of the urban, have a different end and beginning of the year, take a bit of a push with the coming year. The chosen destination was Villa Trafulwhich is about 500 km of the Upper Valley.

Like other times I went to camping Paloma Araucana, which is under the Traful Lake Viewpoint. This viewpoint is now closed due to danger of collapse and has been dismantled.

The campsite has more than 40 stoves, each one has a place for a grill, a light pole and an electrical outlet, as well as a place to put the tent. The place is wide and spacious with plenty of shade.

The end of 2022 and spending the New Year as always went hand in hand with taking photos in another context. Sunsets watching the lakelook at how the cypresses cut out the sky.

A cypress tree cuts out the sky at sunset.

The thistles blooming, lthe bandurrias that are approaching to see if one of them dropped some bread crumbs. Taking advantage of that proximity there are photos, because there are always photos.

For a while I go to the traful beach: the lake is ironed, in the distance you can see some soft waves.

The image of an ironed lake is one of the pleasures we have on summer days.

The embracing silence is interrupted by the squawking of a womb that claims the space on the beach.

A womb comes to claim a beach sector of Lake Traful, which he considers his own.

In the afternoon I return to the banks of the Traful but with mates, the breeze begins to increase.

A lonely fisherman in his boat.

A couple in wetsuits venture into the waters of the lake. A man tests a boat for bite. From what I can see, he had no luck. The end of 2022 is approaching and the moon appears behind a cypress tree.

Cypress and moon begin to say goodbye to the year 2022.

The lake is choppy, the waves begin to take center stage. The year is gone and the new one arrives, 2023.
As I said before, there is always a photo and a reason to go to take a walk around the mountain range.

The new year has arrived, a family rests in their camp. The stars dominate the sky over the campsite.

Villa Traful Attractions

When you approach the village, the coihues and cypresses accompany the path to the sides of the route.

Curves and countercurves follow one another through a green tunnel and suddenly you enter Villa Traful, the Neuquén mountain village that turned 86 years old last November 30.

On the stage, there are giant logs, a mountain hamlet and the lake is serenebright turquoise dress to start a movie walk.

The village is at 100 kilometers from Bariloche and 65 kilometers from Villa La Angostura, in the Nahuel Huapi National Park.

A great option is to visit the lagoons the twinsa journey that combines boat and horseback riding and allows you to cross Lake Traful and explore a beautiful forest of cypresses and radales surrounded by streams of a thousand shades.

You have to know too the Coa Coá and Ñivinco waterfalls and the Submerged Forest.

It’s about a sunken forest about 30 meters deep in 1960, after an earthquake that caused the slope of a hill to slide into the water. It can be accessed by boat or diving in its waters.

The excursion until black hill it is a more demanding hike. The path enters among stunted ñires, bushes and views of hills that complete an unforgettable scene of a region that surprises at every step.
