“I couldn’t go”, Nasri tells how OL tried to recruit him in 2008

Guest of the show “Zack En Roue Libre” on Monday on Twitch, Samir Nasri returned to his departure from OM to Arsenal in the summer of 2008. The former Marseille player reveals that he refused an offer from OL , higher than that of the Gunners. And explains why he declined the proposal of President Aulas.

Samir Nasri has been loyal and indebted to OM. Guest of the show Zack freewheeling on Twitch this Monday, the former player returned to his departure from the Marseille club in the summer of 2008. At the time, the former attacking midfielder had an offer from Arsenal, where he ended up signing, but also from Olympique Lyonnais.

OL had already been interested in Franck Ribéry in 2007, who then left OM for Bayern Munich. “They do that with Franck. The following year, they come to see me in Cassis, at the time with Jean-Pierre Bernès. There was Bernard Lacombe and Rémi Garde. We discuss and be careful, they made a better contract offer than Arsenal, confided the current Canal+ consultant. But I mightn’t go to Lyon. I’m from Marseille, I mightn’t.”

A nice gesture for OM

Trained at OM, Samir Nasri joined Arsenal for 16 million euros. “I give the agreement to Arsenal and there is President Aulas who calls me and makes another offer. When I looked at her, I said to myself ‘oh’. But no, I went to Arsenal”, told the 35 year old man.

Samir Nasri also felt indebted to his training club, extending his contract before leaving. “I might sign at Arsenal free, as many players from the Marseille training center did, but it was impossible for me”, launched the man with 41 selections with the France team.

“It’s my city, my club, I was trained there, I mightn’t go for zero like that and say ‘ciao, I used you’. It’s impossible, I had to to extend and earn compensation for my club, slipped Nasri. But I shouldn’t feel aggrieved either.”
