The repercussions continue this Monday regarding the unfortunate episode that occurred this Sunday in the city of Jesús María, in the Colón department, following a truck loaded with pigs overturned on National Route 9.
In the midst of the serious situation, dozens of people approached the scene of the accident to get pigs and take them, even in private vehicles.
The local police arrived following a while and mounted an operation to establish order and ensure that the copies were not taken. In this context, the truck driver who was slightly injured as a result of the accident spoke.
“I might have been lying dead and they were going to jump over me to grab the animals,” he remarked. “There was a lot of desperation, imagine the number of live pigs they took. It is not avoidable that they do not die,” added the man.
For his part, Commissioner Jesús Maldonado, from the Regional Police, confirmed to Cadena 3 that the owner of the cargo allowed the animals to be taken.
“After a reasonable time, he asked that the situation be stopped, and we were with infantry and resources, we informed them that there was no more permission and the company moved the live animals, and the dead ones to the garbage dump,” said the police official.
“Film contributions were made, we acted ex officio but we have complemented to continue with the investigative part of this, there are no detainees at the moment,” he added.
How the truck overturned and what happened next
It all happened around 10 at the intersection of National Route 9 North and Malvinas Argentinas Street where, for reasons that are being investigated, the driver of a Scania truck with a cage lost control of the vehicle.
In a spectacular way, the heavy vehicle was knocked down. Some pigs died and others were injured. Circumstances of absolute chaos were experienced.
It is not the first time that an event of this nature has occurred in Córdoba. Some time ago, on the Capital Ring Road, a truck with animals had also overturned and numerous people came to take them away.
