I can break Akhtar’s record, but that’s not what I want: Umran Malik
Umran Malik was instrumental in gifting IPL 2023 to India. It didn’t take long for Umran to get the nickname Kashmiri Express, who rattled the batsmen with his fast deliveries.
Uncompromising on pace, Umran is adept at consistently bowling over 150 kmph.
Fans believe that Umran can break the record of Pakistan legend Shoaib Akhtar in terms of pace. Earlier in the nets, Umran stunned the entire cricket world by surpassing Akhtar’s fastest delivery.
Akhtar bowled the fastest ball in the history of cricket during the 2003 World Cup. Akhtar’s high-speed delivery was 161.3 kmph in the match once morest England. For more than two decades, no bowler has been able to threaten the star’s record.
But Umran Malik says that if he bowls well and is lucky, he can break Akhtar’s record.
Umran said this to News24.
“If I play well and if I’m lucky I will break Shoaib Akhtar’s fastest delivery record. But I don’t think regarding that. I want to play well for the Indian national team.
I don’t know the speed of the ball while playing. I understand that when I reach the dressing room following the game. I only aim to take wickets for the team during the game,’ said Umran.
Meanwhile, Umran has been included in the squad for Sri Lanka’s tour of India. Umran has managed to get a place in ODI series and T20 series. Umran is trying to perform well before the 2023 ODI World Cup and get a place in the World Cup team.
