Elly Schlein, Giuseppe Conte and the Fratoianni-Bonelli duo, together with the judges of Genoa, have succeeded in having Giovanni Toti resign as governor of Liguria. A preventive conviction, issued on the basis of the first excerpts of wiretaps published in the newspapers, and a forced surrender, arrived after days of endless pillorying. “It’s time to show our cards. I’m here, let other names come out”: this is how Andrea Orlando, a historic exponent of the Democratic Party, announced his candidacy for the presidency of the Liguria Region in an interview with Secolo XIX today. “Candidate and program by August” but “I won’t decide alone” added the former Minister of Justice.

Then he seized the opportunity and attacked the center-right: “It is in a complicated phase, we must not miss the opportunity”. Although he seemed to want to have more certainties, Orlando has dissolved the reserve. He has been moving for weeks. The former Keeper of the Seals has contacted, in the last few days, the members and closest collaborators of his faction to prepare the next moves. Among his first supporters is Elly Schlein. The reason? In this way the secretary of the Democratic Party would have one less problem at the Nazareno and the opportunity to take back that “left-left” of the party that has never fully welcomed her.
