Charlotte Dujardin of Great Britain is not competing in Paris. She says the events on a video clip do not reflect how she trains her horses or treats her students.

Dressage star Charlotte Dujardin from Great Britain announces on social media that she will not compete in the Summer Olympics. The reason is a leaked video.

– A four-year-old video appeared and it shows that I make a wrong judgement, writes Dujardin.

– What happened is not at all like me and does not reflect how I train my horses or treat my students. Regardless, there is no excuse.

Dujardin has achieved great success in previous Olympics and the balance is three gold, one silver and two bronze.

In Paris, Dujardin had the opportunity to make history by winning his seventh Olympic medal. No British woman has won more than six medals.

Now Dujardin is taking an indefinite break.

– It is completely understandable that the international equestrian sports federation FEI is investigating the matter. I have made the decision to withdraw from all competitions, including the Olympics, while the process is ongoing, writes Dujardin.

The 39-year-old rider emphasizes that she is remorseful.

– I am deeply ashamed and should have set a better example in that situation.

– I am truly sorry for my actions and devastated that I have let everyone down: the team, the fans and the sponsors.
