“I don’t care if I have to let go of my profession for a while, because I really feel that now is a moment when home comes before everything else. What’s in the pipe, I’m burning now, because I feel that all my previous stances have led to this boiling point, and I have a moral obligation to act. I wouldn’t be able to deal with myself, I would die as a coward if I didn’t get involved in this now”
says actor Ervin Nagy in an interview with Népsva, which appeared before Saturday’s demonstration. Ervin Nagy already took the stage next to Péter Magyar at the demonstration on March 15, and since then he has repeatedly assured his ex-husband Judit Varga of his support.
He now said regarding Magyar: “I don’t think there has been a political talent born in the Carpathian Basin who achieved such a result with such speed. This is how Viktor Orbán might have been in 1992.”
Regarding the fact that Judit Varga accused Péter Magyar of abuse, Ervin Nagy said: “of course, none of us were there in that bedroom, only the two of us know what happened, we don’t know the circumstances, the dynamics of their relationship, what conflicts led to the for quarrels. I know what it’s like to yell at a woman when we’re tired, when we don’t sleep because of the kids, and that’s how we release the tension. I think that 90 percent of Hungarians live like this, or at least live through such a period. But if anyone, then Judit Varga would have had the opportunity to deal with the situation of abused women during her four years as a minister.”

A few days ago, Ervin Nagy said regarding Péter Magyar’s movement: it has a ’56 vibe. You can read our coverage of Saturday’s demonstration here.
